2025 Majorette Auditions

Saturday, May 10th, 2025
9:00 a.m. – Noon – Wright Music Building

Requirements

1. Dance/Twirl: Music selection of your choice (2-3 minutes maximum)
   1. Criteria for evaluation includes
      1. Coordination of routine to music
      2. Simultaneous footwork and twirling
      3. Variety of dance steps
      4. Showmanship
      5. Multiple Batons
   2. Bring a digital download of your music.
2. Additional areas of consideration
   1. Appearance
   2. Attitude
   3. Posture
   4. Presentation
   5. Basic marching skills
3. Attire
   1. Costume/leotards or any clothing that allows unrestricted movement (a competition/high school uniform would be appropriate).
4. Two letters of recommendation (not required of current “Band of Blue” members)
   1. One from your band director
   2. One from your principal, school teacher, or baton coach.
5. You will be taught a short group routine and be asked to perform tricks as a
   group.
   1. You will be evaluated on your ability to learn quickly and efficiently.

All applications must be received no later than April 28th, 2025.

ALL CURRENT MAJORETTE MEMBERS MUST AUDITION FOR A POSITION IN THE MTSU “BAND OF BLUE” SHOULD THEY WISH TO RETURN.

*Returning members are not guaranteed a spot and as such, positions are open each year to all
applicants. The number of Raiderettes selected will be at the discretion of the band directors and
coaches.

**Candidates should be accepted to MTSU prior to auditioning. Existing students must be in
good standing. No member will be considered official until they are registered for the Band of
Blue class.
